Finding Your Flow
For a Life lived with Purpose & Passion
‘You could say that I worked every minute of my life, or you could say with equal justice that I never worked a day.” ― Mihaly Csiksgentmihalyi
So many of us are stuck in an endless routine of a boring job. But believe it or not it is entirely up to human perception to experience something as boring or interesting. Our daily job is a necessary chore and pays our bills but it needn’t be boring if we care to put our attention to it and execute it with earnest. Perhaps in hope of learning something new. Perhaps in hope of doing better than yesterday. Passion for something only develops when we pay attention to it. It’s lack of focus and attention that renders daily jobs mundane. If you want to feel passionately about something, give it your undivided attention. Contrary to popular beliefs, passions are cultivated, they don’t develop out of thin air.
And when you are paying attention to something in earnest you don’t notice the passage of time, nor the weariness of mind and body. That is called finding your flow when you are so deeply engrossed with a task that you feel free from constraints of time and space.
So purposely find your flow in everything you do. That is the key and secret to feeling alive and energized. No matter how mundane a task may seem, like washing dishes or tiding a closet, make it your life’s mission to execute it with dedication and the best you can. Feel the joy of paying attention and care about doing a job well. It may not matter to anyone else, but it should matter to you that you commit whole heartedly to any task, however small and insignificant. That’s the secret of finding your flow in everything you do.
This is also the art of being present, living in the now. And if you practice it everyday in every thing you do, you will realize that you are always in your flow. You will start noticing synchronicities around that would seem like the universe is giving you direction and ideas that you otherwise would never have come across. Everything and everyday becomes a tad more easy and certainly more exciting.
That’s the beauty of honing the art of paying attention and focusing on task at hand.
